Top Three Finishers in Eight of 11 Entries
TEMPE, AZ, October 11, 2009 - The Rio Salado Rowing Club put on quite a show for the hometown crowd at yesterday's Hot Head Regatta, placing in the top three in eight of eleven races. First place finishes went to the Men's Masters 1x, Women's Master's 8+, Men's Master's 2X, Women's Novice 1X, and the Men's Masters 8+, 4X, and 4+. The Women's Master's 4+, with two boats, took second and fourth places; while the Mixed 8+ took second place in their event.

Rio Salado rowers were pleased with the outcomes of their races, as well as the support they received from club members, friends, and families at the event. The Men's Masters 4x now looks to racing in the prestigious Head of the Charles in Boston next weekend, while the rest of the Rio competitive rowers head for races in Marina del Rey and Newport Beach, CA, at the end of the month.

In all there were 11 clubs represented at the Hot Head, seven of them from right here in the Valley, one from Prescott, two from California, and one hailed from Utah. The Hot Head Regatta is an annual event, hosted by the Tempe Rowers Association.
