The Free Introduction to Rowing Event was a huge success!

There were 14 participants this morning for the event, all of whom showed great enthusiasm for their newly discovered sport. Thanks to everybody who came down to participate in less than ideal weather conditions, and a special thanks to our volunteers.

Rowers can now obtain their own card key. The cost is $75 per year. Rowers must have rowed continuously for three years and be tested to ensure that She or He can handle/ carry a single by themselves to the beach and back and scull independently and safely without supervision. If you are interested in obtaining a card key, please see Rick Shuckerow.

FREE Intro to Rowing Event
Saturday, April 10th
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Rio Salado Boatyard

The Rio Salado Rowing club is offering this free taste of rowing to any adult interested in experiencing the sport of rowing. During the session you will learn the parts of the boats and the oars; begin the basics of the rowing stroke on the rowing machine (ergometer, or "erg",) and conclude the morning IN the boat for a row on the lake.

Bring/wear comfortable workout shoes (for the erg) and a pair of flip-flops (your feet will get wet), and wear clothing suitable for a workout. Please help us and RSVP here so we can plan accordingly.

See you on April 10th !
(Can't make it on the 10th?.  Stay tuned to the website for future FIRE dates!)
Desert Sprints Regatta
Saturday, March 6
Tempe Town Lake
7:00 a.m.
Come cheer for Rio Salado, as rowers compete in the largest Desert Sprints regatta in nine years on Saturday, March 6. Teams from California, Colorado, and Utah will be travelling to Arizona to compete against local junior, collegiate, and master's rowing programs - like Rio Salado! Come enjoy the event from the Rio Salado hospitality tent, set up on the north shore of the lake, on the grassy area just east of the Tempe Town Lake Marina - the perfect place to catch all the action.

The first of 42 scheduled races is set to go off 7:00 a.m., continuing until completion of the final race at approximately 5:00 p.m. There will be plenty of great rowing to see, so bring your lawn chair and sunglasses, and come spend the day with your Rio Salado Rowing Club team. (To see a schedule of races, click here.) Look for the Rio tent!

We are extremely pleased and excited to announce our new winter season open row schedule! We have added new open row times and have a total of eleven open row times occurring every day of the week! In order to make this work, please access the RSRC Member Forums and post your intention to be present at the row 24 hours prior to the open row time. If you fail to do this we cannot guarantee that a facilitator will be present. As always club boats cannot be taken out without the assigned facilitator present. You can view the open row schedule here.

At 12 Noon on Wednesday January 27th Tempe Town Lake was opened. Special thanks to our Park Rangers and the Boating staff for getting it opened so quickly.
